One of the best parts of working at AppLovin is the culture of giving back to our community whenever we can, something we instill in each of our employees. With AppLovin’s help, our employees have coordinated blood drives, held fundraisers for fire victims, and helped organize campus tours for prospective students.

When I was catching up with my college friend, Priya Shah, I found out that she was running a nonprofit called The Simple Good. Founded in 2014, The Simple Good’s mission is to empower at-risk youth to bring positivity into communities through art and discussion.

Although The Simple Good primarily works with youth in Chicago, I jumped at the opportunity to bring its workshops to New York City. With the help of the AppLovin Cares program, we’re closer to reaching that goal. AppLovin has given a generous donation to the program, and with the help of Alex Merutka, Director of Programmatic at AppLovin, we’re organizing a fundraiser for The Simple Good. All funds raised will go toward buying art supplies and paying staff to run these workshops, which will be held in April 2018.

This art program works with at-risk youth to instill a sense of positivity through artistic expression, positive mindfulness, and social and emotional core competencies that they’ll take with them throughout the rest of their lives.

Growing up, I was fortunate enough to go to a high school that offered a ton of art programs, so I took literally every art class I could think of, including stone carving, pottery, painting, drawing, art history, and more.

Art has allowed me to relax and stay creative and has been almost like meditation for me. My goal with this event is to help bring this feeling to at-risk youth and to spread awareness so that others can amplify the effort. It’s important for all kids to follow whatever their passions are. This is made possible by the creativity and self-discipline fostered by organizations like The Simple Good, helping kids throughout every facet of their careers and lives.

Check out all the awesome work The Simple Good is doing in Chicago. And if you’d like to help AppLovin bring The Simple Good’s workshops to New York City, please RSVP for fundraiser in NYC at the Juke Bar on Friday, March 16, 2018. Can’t make the party? Please consider donating to The Simple Good if you can.
