It’s been a little over eight years since we stepped into our Palo Alto HQ. Looking back, we were a small but mighty team with a strong focus on app discovery — mobile apps were being developed left, right and center — but we saw how challenging and frustrating it was to get apps noticed. So, we built the cornerstone of our business on giving developers the tools they needed to get their mobile games monetized and discovered.

Fast forward several years, and we’ve grown our business. We expanded to publishing in 2018 with Lion Studios and have launched a huge catalog of number one games. It was around this time we also began to invest in other game studios around the world — PeopleFun, Firecraft Studios, MagicAnt, Belka Games, Clipwire Games, Geewa and most recently Redemption Games — we were blown away by the creativity and talent in these teams and in how well we were able to help them grow their businesses, and keeping their studios independent. Our partner studios vision and approach is to help more game devs grow and succeed in a crowded market.

Today, we take a big step forward by announcing that we have agreed to acquire Machine Zone. Machine Zone is best known as the developer of high-grossing marquee titles including Game of War: Fire Age, Mobile Strike and Final Fantasy XV: A New Empire. Machine Zone proudly serves the most diverse community of mobile gamers and creates highly engaging experiences where everyone can be a hero (and they have an enormous following and player community to show for it!).

Combining Machine Zone’s expertise and unmatched success in core games and their monetization and user acquisition tools and knowledge, with AppLovin’s impressive portfolio of casual games and leading marketing platform allows us to offer both top game franchises and game technologies to players and developers around the world.

AppLovin’s impressive portfolio of casual games and leading marketing platform allows us to offer both top game franchises and game technologies to players and developers around the world.

With this accelerated growth we will have to leave our first office (yes, we still have the first office we started out in back in 2011) to move one mile away to share Machine Zone’s headquarters in Palo Alto. But, we are ready and excited about blending our superior technology and wicked smart employees under one roof. And, together we will continue our mission to grow the mobile gaming ecosystem — providing players with more interactive, fun games and supporting game developers by finding new and innovative tools to help them succeed.
