In times of uncertainty, we often seek human kindness, hope and real human connection. Even amidst stress and concern, our global workforce has really come together and we are stronger because of it. We’re taking a beat to recognize how our partner studios: PeopleFun, Lion Studios, Belka Games and Geewa have responded during a challenging time to help their own communities around the globe.

PeopleFun

PeopleFun is located in Dallas, Texas and they gave significant donations to support two local organizations that were doing good for their community: The North Texas Food Bank and Get Shift Done. As more people face economic challenges, The North Texas Food Bank has seen a huge surge in the need to service their local community and to  provide food for those most in need. And, Get Shift Done is helping to pay those in the hospitality industry that have lost their jobs from this crisis to work at local nonprofits and charities. PeopleFun employees were also given the opportunity to participate in a donation matching program for the month of April to boost their impact and give back to charities that they are individually passionate about.

“The virus and it’s direct impact on people is devastating. With the necessary shutdown of so many businesses, we are heartbroken for the increasing number of individuals who are now struggling with basic needs such as having the means to feed their family. To do a small part, we are supporting the North Texas Food Bank and Get Shift Done organizations,” said John Boog-Scott, COO and co-founder, PeopleFun.

Belka Games

Belarus-based Belka Games contributed to its communities’ fight against COVID-19 by making a significant donation to the Minsk City Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital. This hospital is providing vital research and support for those fighting COVID-19 in Minsk. The donation will go toward providing more personal protective equipment for staff along with funding for test systems, and other essential supplies.

“We believe that support from each of us is important right now,” said Dmitry Khusainov, co-founder of Belka Games. “We hope that more companies will take up the initiative of social responsibility.” Belka Games co-founder Yury Mazanik added, “Let’s help each other comply with all the recommendations of the World Health Organization — and do our best to stay cheerful and optimistic.”

Lion Studios

Lion Studios in San Francisco partnered with our AppLovin Cares group to support local organizations during these unprecedented times. The team chose to donate to the San Francisco Unified School District, Share Our Strength, Alameda County Community Food Bank, The Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation, and Feeding America to help drive some relief to the SF/Bay Area community. Each of these organizations is helping those most impacted by the effects of the global crisis — with most focusing on fighting childhood hunger and feeding Bay Area community members.

The teams at Lion Studios and AppLovin remain committed to giving back to their community in these tough times and finding ways to make meaningful contributions.

Geewa

In our current environment, it’s easy to focus on the negative news that surrounds us day in and day out. Geewa wanted to reverse some of this negativity by choosing to spread joy. Geewa ran a #StayAtHome social media campaign, sharing a set of free Smashing Four-themed coloring pages aimed at keeping their community and children entertained.

The team is focusing on ways to spread joy through their game by creating special challenges within Smashing Four — like a design contest where players can submit designs for a new emoji within the game, including the winner having their winning design included in the game!

Thank you to our partner studios, and our broader communities for making a positive impact in their local communities. It’s inspiring to see how people across the globe are finding ways to come together to work against the impact COVID-19 has had on their communities and the people in them. We encourage you to find ways to get involved in your local community to join forces with others and help support those around you on the front lines in this time of need.
